Arulmigu Adaikalam Katha Ayynar Bathirakaliamman Thirukkiol is located in the middle of a cool coconut grove. Imposing idol of Lord Ayyanar and his horse greet the visitors of this temple. The idol of the horse has protruding teeth and bulging eyes and Lord Ayyanar is depicted with a furious look. These two together generate an element of fear to the onlookers. The horse is of 30 ft, high and is adorned with a garland of lemons.

The Rajagopuram (the tower) of Bathirakaliamman temple is of five tiers.  The Goddess Bathirakaliamman appears as if she is in a procession to protect the world wearing fire on her head as crown. The main deity Bathirakaliamman idol is thirteen feet and is guarded on both sides by two Boothas (demons). A very big horse stands raising its legs over this idol.

Bathirakaliamman holds a trident and has a crown of fire. She is believed to be fond of lime fruit, so the devotees offer her a lime fruit garland made of 100 limes and it is a garland of 1000 limes for the horse she is mounted on.

Residents of Madapuram consider the temple premises of Bathirakaliamman as court of justice. It is common that at a small platform outside the temple people seek justice from the Goddess. Both the prosecutor and defender of any dispute come here and after lighting a lamp take oath that what they are telling is truth and then go back. The one who takes false oath will be severely punished within 30 days. Sometimes, whoever lie here will not be able to cross the village limits. The punished people usually come back to the temple and compensate the other party and pay fine to the Goddess.

Poor people facing the hardship of injustice meted out to them by the rich also come here for justice.  They come in wet clothes, state their complaint and cut a coin and put it on a sacred place Pattyakkal installed here. Gunny bags full of cut coins stocked can be seen in this temple. They believe that by doing this they receive the justice and the person against whom the complaint is lodged will be punished appropriately by the Goddess.

Neem is the Sthala Vruksham or the tree of the land here.  Friday is considered very auspicious and is very crowded at this temple. Brahma Gundam, Manikarni theertham are the temple tanks of Bathirakaliamman temple. This temple has patrons ranging from V.I.Ps, cine stars, I.A.S. officers and normal devotees who come to pray for fulfilling their wishes.
